Job Advert

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) provides a range of specialised support services, of which some require digital solutions, that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. Scotland has some of the best health service data in the world and we work in partnership with NHS Boards, hospitals, GP’s and Local Authorities to provide IT systems to support local decision makers and national policy and guidance.  We provide applications/systems to support activities aimed at integration of NHS Health Boards and National systems.

We seek a self-motivated enthusiastic IT developer to join our small established friendly developer team, who are supportive of each other on a day to day basis. The post is permanent and could be office based or working at home so candidate needs to be flexible to adapt to both of these options - (current recommendations are for Home Working wherever possible due to COVID 19). You should keep up to date with new technology and frameworks.  You will be involved in design, development, maintenance and support of the best possible solutions for new and existing software products used throughout Scotland and the UK.

Applicants should be educated to degree level in an IT related subject or have equivalent experience in a technical development role on large scale system solutions.   You will have proven experience in a technical IT role, with strong SQL Server skills plus integration / web development experience. You will also have proven experience in:

•    SQL Server (including complex SQL stored procedures)
•    Integration engines/messaging workflows
•    C#
•    ASP.Net and MVC
•    HTML / JavaScript
•    XML, JSON

You will have excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work with health professionals in NSS, NHS Boards and Local Authorities. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and a high degree of accuracy. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is essential.

You should have the ability to work across many different projects with different priorities, managing the conflicting demands that this entails, negotiating and influencing customers and suppliers in terms of timescales and deadlines.

Our Job Descriptions are generic for developer roles. Please refer to the Person Specification for the specific skill sets required for the role.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
