An exciting opportunity has arisen on a 1 year maternity cover, for a Risk Manager working within our National Risk & Resilience Department and leading risk management across all of the Scottish Ambulance Service This post can be supported through a secondment or fixed term contract.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that robust organisation-wide arrangements for risk management across the Scottish Ambulance Service. The National Risk and Resilience Department also ensures, emergency planning, business continuity, special operations and community resilience are developed in keeping with existing and proposed legislation, government policy and standards, emerging and anticipated threats and risks and best practice in the field. The mission of the NRRD is to protect the Service and the community from the consequences of risk.
The post provides an exciting opportunity for current Risk Advisors and/or Facilitators or any other staff working within a risk management office looking for personal and career development.
There is no fixed base of work with flexible working including home working and or a blended approach with base and home working.
This post reports to the Head of Threat & Risk and the main duties of the post include:
- Management and lead for the Datix Risk Management System, which includes Incident Reporting, Risk Registers, Feedback and Actions modules
- Line management responsibility for Risk Management (Datix) Administrator
- Risk management support to various Corporate groups and Service Board Corporate risk register management
- Management, oversight and support for Risk Registers
- Risk management advice to Service functional departments
- Implementation of Duty of Candour and Adverse Event Policy – approved for implementation through 2019 / 2020
- Work in close liaison with Clinical Risk Manager to support the management of Significant Adverse Event Reviews
- Duty of Candour implementation lead in Service – annual report requirements commence April 2019
- Identified as Services Equipment Co-ordinator which includes the management of risk alerts
Liaison
- Healthcare Improvement Scotland Liaison Co-ordinator
- Healthcare Improvement Scotland Adverse Events Group
- Key member of several Service groups to provide risk analysis and themes and trends from adverse events
- Liaison with National Ambulance Risk and Safety forum
- Liaison with NHS National Services as Equipment Co-ordinator
Ideally the candidate would have a Risk Management or Management Qualification or 3 - 5 years’ experience of Risk Management within the NHS or public sector. Experience of the current NHS datix system would be beneficial.
The post holder will be dealing with sensitive information for which security clearance may be required.
