CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW IN STROKE MEDICINE

The Medicine for the Elderly Department in Glasgow Royal Infirmary is seeking a Clinical Development Fellow to support the work of the stroke service.
This post will be based in GRI and will focus on providing inpatient care to patients in the hyper acute stroke unit and the stroke wards, working closely with the stroke consultants and specialist nurses in providing the full spectrum of stroke care. The successful applicant will participate in holding the stroke referral page and reviewing stroke referrals from elsewhere in the hospital, as well as being an active and integral part of the thrombolysis team and supporting the work of ward base colleagues.
The successful candidate will also attend Fast Track TIA clinics / Stroke OP clinics on a timetabled basis expected to be one clinic/week.
One half day per week will ring-fenced for personal development, working on projects in quality improvement or research – Dr Terry Quinn, Senior Lecturer in Stroke, has a range of projects which the successful applicant can assist with according to their areas of interest.
The hours of work will be 9am – 5pm, Monday - Friday. There will be an opportunity to participate in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital stroke registrar rota if the successful applicant is suitably qualified for this and wishes to do so.
A range of educational opportunities will be available and post holders will be allocated appropriate Educational Supervision for the duration of the post: however this is a Directorate post and does not carry recognition from the Postgraduate Deanery for training purposes.
Applicants must at a minimum have completed Foundation Training and hold full GMC registration. Previous experience in stroke medicine is not essential. The work in the post and responsibilities will be tailored to the successful applicant’s stage of training.
