As a Community Learning Disability Dietitian the successful applicant will become an integral member of the West Dunbartonshire HSCP Learning Disability Multi-Disciplinary Team in Clydebank.  Working with health and social work colleagues to improve health outcomes and address inequalities for people with a learning disability living within West Dunbartonshire locality.  People with learning disabilities often have multiple complex co-morbidities and the successful Dietitian will have experience in a range of conditions with significant clinical experience in enteral feeding, nutrition support and dysphagia which are essential for this role. 

The Learning Disability Dietitian through evidence based practice will deliver assessment, intervention and treatment using person centred approaches in a variety of settings; home, day services, specialist learning disability inpatient services, as well as delivering staff and carer education. 

There will be scope for improving service delivery and sharing dietetic practice in learning disability by engaging in quality improvement opportunities through being a member of, and contributing to the NHSGGC learning disability clinical effectiveness group.  

The Learning Disability Dietitian is part of the NHSGGC West Quadrant Community Dietetic dept, a friendly and enthusiastic community team which supports practice placements and clinical supervision.  Being part of a wider community dietetic team provides opportunities for peer support, general community dietetic experience, innovation as well as learning disability practice development support including cross cover arrangements. 

This post is peripatetic with access to bases in Clydebank and Vale Centre for Health to accommodate service need as well as support effective travel management.    

A BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics, HCPC registration and a full driving licence are essential for this role.
