NHS Ayrshire and Arrans’ well established GP with Extended Roles Programme is introducing an exciting new role working in and out of hours across General Practice and Urgent Care Services. This will also include regular sessions within our local Emergency Departments.
We are currently carrying out innovative and dynamic service re-design across the primary and secondary care urgent care interface and these roles will support the ongoing development of the patient pathways required. This is an opportunity for newly qualified GPs who wish to build on their portfolio, or an experienced GP working in General Practice looking for a change. The extended role of these posts will help to address areas of significant patient need bringing the benefit of a GP’s holistic generalist approach.

The role offers:
• A full-time post, considered to be 37.5 hours per week (Part-time will also be considered) for a minimum period of 2 years;
• A salary of £61,346 - £91,564 per annum pro rata, with weekend / overnight enhancements if applicable;

• Medical indemnity for salaried doctors will be provided by NHS Ayrshire & Arran
Sessions will be worked between a mutually agreed General Practice (minimum of 4 per week), within Ayrshire Urgent Care Service (working flexibly across the three treatment centre sites at Ayr, Crosshouse and Irvine) and within an NHS Ayrshire & Arran Emergency Department.
Post Requirements:
• All applicants must meet the criteria for joining the NHS Ayrshire & Arran Performers List by time of appointment;
• Sound knowledge of the requirements of the NHS GMS Contract with a good understanding of Clinical Governance is essential;
• Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development;
• Applicants will also hold a Certificate of Completion of Training, Certificate of Prescribed Experience from JCPTGP or equivalent and be registered on both the GMC and GP Registers by the time of appointment. An RCGP qualification will be advantageous;
• Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential;
• Continued Professional Development and Appraisal will form part of the time commitment taking place in and out of hours.
