Consultants Anaesthetists in General and ITU
University Hospital Hairmyres is looking to recruit a consultant with a general theatre interest. The General appointee will take part in a dedicated theatre on call rota based on a 1 in 10 frequency, or take part in a dedicated ITU on call rota based on a 1 in 9 frequency.
The new appointee will join a department of 18 consultants. During the Covid pandemic almost all theatres changed to 2.5 session days and this may remain in place for the foreseeable future. Sessions will be made up from the following subspecialties: ITU (if appointed to ITU post), general surgery, vascular, ECT, orthopaedics, trauma, CEPOD, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, gynaecology and pre-assessment. Any specialist interest could be accommodated.
The exact configuration of sessions will be determined following appointment when a job plan will be issued as part of the contract.
All new substantive Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 PA for SPA duties but this starting allocation may be increased if the appointee can begin work immediately with specific service improvement initiatives.
