The General Surgical Service is supported by new and excellent ITU/HDU facilities; a radiology department with modern cross sectional imaging with two CT scanners and two MRI scanners;  endoscopy unit and theatres with full range of laparoscopic equipment. Likewise laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy and sacral nerve stimulation are available locally for patients with pelvic floor disorders. We are a highly active research unit; projects include biomarker discovery, telemedicine apps, clinical trials, simulation in training, clinical education and we recruit to a high proportion of current colorectal clinical trials.
