(UNSCHEDULED CARE and OUTREACH)

Applications are welcome for the above permanent post which can be a a split post with a minimum of 0.4 WTE up to full time (37 ½ hours) per week. post based mainly at the Chalmers Hospital however there may be a requirement to work at any of our other sites within Lothian
We are looking for an experienced dentist to provide high quality, patient-centred, dental care at our Unscheduled Dental Care & Outreach service within Lothian.
You will provide treatment to a full range /cohort of individuals, including treating more challenging individuals, with additional need, such as, impairment or disability that is physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional, social, or anxiety, as well as paediatric patients.
You mainly will be providing treatment, independently, within an Unscheduled Dental Care & Outreach setting. You must be proficient at diagnosis and immediate treatment planning & management of any dental emergency or urgent dental condition & signposting to more intermediate/definitive treatments. You must up to date with the latest SDCEP guidance for the management of Urgent Dental Care, as well as other guidance for relevant within the urgent remit eg Dental Trauma .
We are looking for a self motivated individual with excellent communication and patient management skills, who is adaptable to varying situations, within a busy service. Most of this treatment will be provided under GDS regulations
Applicants must hold a BDS qualification, have GDC registration, a List Number and preferably experience in providing care to general public, as well as special care & paediatric experience; Evidence of sedation experience would be desirable.
This post will require the successful candidate to obtain PVG Clearance.
