An exciting opportunity for an experienced registered general nurse to join the NHS Ayrshire and Arran area wide ophthalmology out-patient and macular service, including the delivery of nurse-led services. With minimal supervision and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will be accountable for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a defined caseload of patients working within the professional standards held in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
You will be motivated and enthusiastic with developed knowledge and skills within the multi-faceted area of ophthalmology and demonstrating a genuine interest to deliver high quality care. Evidence of post registration education in ophthalmology desirable.
You will be required be flexible and reliable and demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.
Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently and effectively within a large multidisciplinary team is needed.
The post holder will act as shift leader on a regular basis and will assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the nursing team. You will be required to participate in audit and quality assurance programmes and contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior and student nurses and healthcare assistants as appropriate.
In the absence of senior charge nurse or deputy, the post holder will provide cover to ensure effective operation of the department.
