CONSULTANT IN BREAST RADIOLOGY
THIS IS A FULL TIME POST HOWEVER CANDIDATES WISHING LESS THAN FULL TIME WILL BE CONSIDERED
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Breast Radiologist, based in Ninewells Hospital Dundee with sessions in Perth Royal Infirmary. This post results from a combination of retirement and expansion of breast services
NHS Tayside manages the East of Scotland Breast Screening Programme co-located and combined with symptomatic breast imaging services for Tayside. We are seeking a candidate for Breast Radiology to work within a cohesive and supportive Breast multi-disciplinary team and to provide a quality service in both symptomatic and screening settings. The East of Scotland Breast Screening Programme serves an eligible screening population of 74000 women
This is a full-time post, however, anyone wishing to work less-than-full-time will be considered and sessions in general radiology could also be considered. There is no on-call commitment for this post .
The post is available with illustrative job plans of 10 programmed activities: 8 Direct Clinical care sessions; one SPA session and a further SPA session of agreed supporting professional activities or direct clinical care according to candidate’s profile. The job plan may be adapted by agreement with possibility of job sharing or part-time working, to suit the applicant’s needs
Tayside Breast Unit is well-equipped with all the latest breast imaging technologies, including digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM), ultrasound shear-wave elastography (SWE) and Breast MRI. We take pride in being one of the most research-active Breast Teams in the UK, and the only professorial unit in Scotland, taking part in various multicentre trials and projects led by Professor Andy Evans
We benefit from excellent relationships with breast surgeons, pathologists, pathologists and specialist nurses, who all contribute towards forming a strong multidisciplinary team working approach. We have 3 advanced practitioners involved in film-reading, stereotactic procedures, ultrasound and biopsies
Tayside is centrally located within Scotland, with easy access to major cities including Edinburgh and Glasgow, and yet is also within a short distance of the Scottish highlands. Caird Hall, Perth Concert Hall and local theatres provide excellent cultural life
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or already in possession of CESR (CP) at the time of interview for the post
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR/CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made
