Job Advert
NHS Forth Valley Staff Bank Service
Bank Optometrist
Band 7 £39,693 - £46,467 per annum, pro rata
NHS Forth Valley is looking to recruit hospital based Bank Optometrists to support the ophthalmology service.
Interested optometrists would support the ophthalmology service to run clinics to address the significant backlog that we now have post COVID-19 pandemic. The sessions will primarily target the review cohorts for stable glaucoma and uveitis initially with scope to extend into macula review. The stable glaucoma clinics would be a good introduction to any optometrist considering applying for NESGAT in the future.
The clinics will aim to gather clinical data for these conditions that will allow a decision for further management by the optometrist or a virtual follow up by the consultant. There will be an opportunity for discussion of cases after each session with the reviewing clinician.
The sessions can be set up ad hoc or on a regular basis. It is anticipated that these will promote a higher degree of collaboration with hospital eye services as well as the potential to develop roles with greater levels of decision making.
You will have an honours degree or equivalent qualification in Optometry and be registered with the General Optical Council.
Closing Date 5 July 2021
