South West Edinburgh Locality
Band 5 Occupational Therapist (16 hrs per week)
Permanent
Salary Scale: £26,104 - £32,915 pro rata
We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in mental health into our team. The South West Community Mental Health Team is based at Cambridge Street House in central Edinburgh and serves a diverse client group aged between 18-64.
The community mental health team supports individuals with enduring or severe mental health challenges. The OT role is to address an individual’s occupational needs, with the aim of improving their quality of life and aiding their recovery. This varies between different individuals, resulting in an interesting and rewarding role.
You will be part of a welcoming and motivated OT team, with strong links with other Community OTs across the city. This is an OT specific role, using MOHO to frame our practice. Assessments used include the MOHOST and AMPS, and there are opportunities to become AMPS trained if you are not already.
We are keen for you to contribute to the development of our service and offer various development opportunities – including Decider Skills training, contributing towards the Edinburgh Mental Health Information Station, supporting students, participating in audits, supervision and group work. You will be working alongside other OTs and an OT Support Worker in a MDT, including close links with social work and third sector organisations.
We are looking to hear from HCPC registered Occupational Therapists from a range of backgrounds and are open to considering individuals with experience working in physical settings or those who are newly qualified, along with those with mental health experience. We are also open to being flexible with how the post hours will be used across the week. The team is situated in a city centre location with good transport links. You would need to travel within the locality and pool cars and parking permits are available for clinical duties.
NHS Lothian is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.
To this end, NHS Lothian welcomes applications from all sections of society.
