We are very excited to be seeking a specialist Cancer Services/ Deputy Accountable Pharmacist to join our team. We are keen to hear from pharmacists who want to take the next step in their career development and specialise in cancer and technical services. Good team working and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to effectively contribute to service development, ensuring the continued success and response of our service to the changing, and challenging, healthcare environment.
This post provides an opportunity to split your role between clinical pharmacy and technical services. The cancer pharmacist team in NHS Forth Valley are an integral part of non-medical prescribing clinics five days per week across a variety of tumour types. The successful candidate will aid in the delivery and development of the clinical pharmacy service to inpatient haematology and to oncology/haematology outpatients. This role has an opportunity to contribute to pharmacist-led clinics and support service developments both locally and as part of the West of Scotland Cancer Network. Specialist knowledge of this patient group is desirable but comprehensive training will be provided.
The other half of the role will enable the potholder to develop their technical skills by acting the deputy for the Accountable Pharmacist. You will be involved in the checking of aseptically prepared products and managing the wider Pharmaceutical Quality Systems (PQS) to ensure that products are prepared in accordance with the principles of good manufacturing practice (GMP). Previous experience in technical services is desirable.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital Pharmacy Department is a state of the art purpose built facility. The department and hospital are progressive, embracing electronic and robotic solutions including HEPMA, and strive to deliver high quality pharmacy services.
Participation in on-call, weekend and late night rotas is expected of this post holder.
We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team. The hospital, which is situated surrounded by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as yoga and cycling clubs. Larbert is within 40 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow and has excellent road and rail links.
