Scottish Emergency dental service (SEDS) is part of NHS 24 111 service. It is a patient focus Out of Hours Dental Service for the people of Scotland.
The service provides Dental Assessment, consultation, dental information and dental appointment information Monday - Thursday 18:00 - 08:00 and from 18:00 on a Friday to 08:00 on a Monday, including local and Public Holidays via telephone in various contact centre’s across Scotland.
As a Dentist in Telemedicine you will be part of a busy team who are responsible for providing care to patients who contact the service with dental issues. You will act as an autonomous practitioner providing a comprehensive telephone triage and dental clinical assessment to patients and/or their carers/relatives resulting in a safe and appropriate dental clinical decision. You will also provide real time dental clinical support to NHS24 senior dental nurses and dental nurses, resulting in safe, appropriate and person centred outcome
As part of a national dental service, you will deal with dental calls of a very diverse nature covering all dental clinical aspects and issues, from dental trauma, over self-medication, dental infection and extreme dental pain.
You will work In compliance with the Dental regulatory body (General Dental Council – GDC) professional Standards, and within ethical, legislative and organisational frameworks, the dentist in Telemedicine will work as an autonomous practitioner, ensuring the privacy of the patient’s interests and wellbeing at all times including patient confidentiality.
