Applications are invited from suitably experienced and motivated individuals to fill the role of Point of Care Testing Manager for NHS Lothian.
Based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine but working in a pan-Lothian capacity this role will manage an increasing number of POCT activities across Lothian where an ambitious and capable Healthcare Scientist can have a positive and lasting effect on how Lothian’s patient pathways develop.
Laboratory Medicine provides laboratory services to primary and secondary centres throughout Lothian. These services are currently delivered from 3 main sites: the Western General Hospital (WGH), the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) including the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) and St John’s Hospital (SJH). There may however be requirements to travel to other NHS Lothian sites. The laboratories receive over 2 million requests and 7 million tests per annum, and have approximately 503 WTE staff.
This post will involve provide the link between NHS Lothian POCT Committee, Directorates, POCT users within NHS Lothian, and the Laboratories.
This is an exciting post created to support the development, governance and effectiveness of POCT in NHS Lothian.
We are looking for a forward thinking individual who will be able to take on a challenging and stimulating role.
You will be based at the new purpose built BioQuarter Laboratory Medicine management offices at the RIE site but will travel extensively across NHS Lothian.
