An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to join the Test & Protect Programme in NHS Ayrshire & Arran as Contact Tracing Team Leads. These posts will be split between the Community & Outbreak Team and the Covid Education Hub. The Test & Protect programme is split into Triage & Healthcare, Education and Community & Outbreak teams.
The purpose of these roles will be to support either the Community & Outbreak Team (Contact Tracing Team Lead ) or the Covid Education Hub (Education Co-ordinator)
There are 3 posts available, one of these posts has a main role as a Team Lead within the Community & Outbreak Team and two posts have a main role as Education Co-ordinators within the Covid Education Hub.
Successful candidate(s) to these posts may also be required to cover other public health portfolio areas based on local need and in discussion with their line manager.
Contact Tracing Team Lead:
You will provide operational day to day management of the Community & Outbreak Contact Tracing Team. This will involve providing first line support in contact tracing for COVID-19 related cases and their contacts, provide advice on more complex contacts/calls/settings escalated by the team and act as the main liaison point for NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health Protection Team in relation to risk assessment and outbreak management.
This post has a requirement of evening, weekend and shift work between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday with Team Leads working shift patterns including 11 hours shifts.
Education Co-ordinators:
You will provide operational day to day management of the Education COVID hub. This will involve providing first line support in providing advice to Education Single Point of Contacts (SPOC) with regards to cases linked to educational establishments and act as the main liaison point for NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health Protection Team in relation to risk assessment and outbreak management.
This post has a requirement of evening, weekend and shift work between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday with Education Co-ordinators working shift patterns including 10 or 11 hours shifts.
The below are required for the role:
- Educated to degree level in a health related subject or social care, social policy or education, or equivalent experiential learning which must be demonstrated through a developed portfolio
- Knowledge of public health in particular measures to protect population health
- Knowledge of the phases of an outbreak and the measures to manage/mitigate this
- Knowledge of current public health policies, strategies and evidence in relation to COVID-19
- Working knowledge and understanding of Contact Tracing
- Proven experience of establishing and maintaining good relationships with managers and colleagues
- Experience of working through both contacts and cases on CMS
- Experience of working with complex situations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with an excellent telephone manner
- Ability to work independently, manage and prioritise own and team workload and cope with competing demands
- Good decision making and problem solving abilities
- Proficient in the use of electronic systems, databases or other information systems forms to support the public health management of cases
- High energy levels and able to work well in a high pressure working environment
Funding for the post is until 31st March 2022 and therefore may be suitable as a secondment. Approval for a secondment should be approved by an applicant’s line manager prior to submitting an application.
