An exciting opportunity has arisen for a post as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology to be employed by Psychological Services and work within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This NES funded post is focused upon the on-going development of early intervention for mental wellbeing for the children and young people of Ayrshire and Arran. The postholder will be an integral part of Ayrshire and Arran CAMHS, with a role developing self-sustaining systems of training, supervision and coaching to external professionals and services, such as Education, Health Visitors, School Nursing, Social Work and 3rd Sector. The postholder will be required to fulfil a co-ordination role for early intervention, focusing on Tier 2 psychological interventions across 0 – 18 years, and will be a link between CAMHS and The Community Wellbeing and Mental Health Framework service.
Ayrshire & Arran CAMHS have Team bases at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine, North West Area Centre, Kilmarnock, and Arrol Park Resource Centre, Ayr. Base location will be negotiated with the successful candidate. In addition to the NES early intervention role outlined about, the postholder will also be expected to provide clinical sessions to meet the requirements of children and families in Ayrshire and Arran. The post holder will provide assessment, formulation and psychological interventions to child and young people across Ayrshire & Arran. Support and supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist within CAMHS.
You should have an undergraduate psychology degree and a master’s in applied psychology (Children and Young People). You must have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in promoting children and young people's mental health.
Psychological Services employ approximately 100 staff including the Professional Lead: for Psychological Services, two Heads of Psychological Specialty (1) Adult and (2) Child and Adult Learning Disabilities. The Service has developed a professional skill-mix, including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Graduate Assistant Psychologists, Masters and Doctoral Trainees. The Service places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest and professional groups. The Service has close links with the NES-funded training programmes for Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (Children and Young People), at University of Edinbugh, and the Clinical Psychology Training Programme (DClinPsy) at the University of Glasgow.
This post is offered on a permanent, full time basis, although variation in contracted hours may be considered. In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, Psychological Services places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest/professional groups and supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist.
Hours: 37.5 per week - Variance in hours may be considered.
