Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated candidates for the Fixed Term post of Health Care Clinical Support Worker (Higher Level) within the West of Scotland Specialist Virology Centre (WoSSVC) in Glasgow.
- To assist in the processing of specimens and carry out work in support of the technical, scientific and clinical staff of the WoSSVC.
- Ensure patient information details (PID) and test information are entered correctly onto the lab information system (Telepath) or other manual systems.
- Collects and prepares materials and clinical specimens for analysis and safe disposal of clinical waste.
- Deals with reception and telephone queries from staff from other departments and external agencies.
- Performs specific laboratory tests including the whole genome sequencing (WGS) section of the WoSSVC, with senior staff available for reference.
- Assists in the training of new or less experienced staff.
The shift pattern for this post is 08:00 to 8pm Over 7 days and the fixed term is 18 months
