NHS Tayside wishes to recruit a trainee Cardiac Physiologist to embark on a 4 year training program in collaboration with the Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) starting in September 2021. You will be employed within the Clinical Physiology service at Ninewells Hospital on full time paid basis, funded by the Scottish Government as part of a national program to increase the pool of qualified cardiac physiologists.
You will receive practical on the job training from our highly skilled and experienced team and learn how to perform a range of Cardiac diagnostic tests such as ECGs, Exercise Tolerance Tests, Cardiac Rhythm Monitors, Cardiac angiography and Ambulatory ECG Monitoring. You will also be introduced to the more advanced work of the department such as Echocardiography and Cardiac Rhythm Management.
The academic element of your study will be provided by GCU through a combination of distance / on-line learning and block release. University fees will also be covered. On completion of your studies you will be awarded a BSc in Cardiac Physiology and be eligible to enter one of the Healthcare Science professional registers.
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication, technical and people skills. They should be good at working in a team as well and independently, and with a strong desire for a career working with patients within the NHS.
Applicants should hold minimum BBC or BCCC at Higher grade with at least two of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, as well as Mathematics or Physics at a minimum of Standard Grade I or II. A levels at CCC.
Your performance must comply with the national “Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009” and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.
