The role of the Stand –alone nurse led Minor Injuries Unit at Stobhill ACH is to provide emergency care to minor injury patients from age five and over.
The department is staffed solely by Emergency Nurse Practitioners.
The service is open 12 hours per day from 0900-2100, 365 days of the year.
The unit provides services for over 20,000 new attendances per year.
Anyone of any age or condition may self-present – the AENP will assess and manage each individual case and refer as appropriate. Some patients may require immediate resuscitative measures, stabilisation and facilitation of patient transfer to a centre of definitive care.
The AENP provides seamless care treating patients on-site and only refers when specialist consultation is required and in collaboration with these services keeping within the A/E 4 hour target.
ANPs have developed a highly specialist knowledge across a range of work practices and procedures underpinned by theoretical and practical knowledge and experience.
The post-holder will be expected to hold an ANP qualification or to be working towards such qualification. They will be expected to work across role and geographical boundaries, providing complete clinical care for their patient as part of a multidisciplinary team.
