Phlebotomist

Band 2

Salary £19,609 - £21,615

Hours: Part time position – 16 hours (0.42WTE)

Location: Siren Hub, main concourse, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

Fixed Term Contract to March 2022

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Phlebotomist to work within a team to deliver the SIREN Study.

What is the SIREN study?

This is a UK wide study that is being delivered across all four nations with the aim to understand whether previous infection with SARS-CoV2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) protects individuals against future infection with the same virus, specifically in patient-facing healthcare staff. The study will run until March 2022.

The Siren Hub is based in the main concourse at ARI, this is where study participants will visit to take part in the study. In order to support the Study we are looking for candidates to work flexibly Monday-Friday.

Who do we need?

We are currently recruiting for a Phlebotomist who will provide support to the SIREN study by obtaining blood samples from participants through venepuncture ensuring blood samples are labelled correctly in preparation for being forwarded to laboratories.

Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn and be able to work well within the multi-disciplinary team.  The successful candidate will be able to work effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment, have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to ever changing scenarios. This is a great opportunity to support or gain experience working in such an important Covid related study.
