Operations Manager – COVID Response
Strategy, Performance and Service Transformation
Hours – 37.5 per week, 5 days over Monday-Sunday
Fixed Term / Secondment to 31st March 2022
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. Our aim is to deliver high quality services that help our partners, save money and free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.
NSS hosts a number of programmes and operational services vital to Scotland’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes services building productive and effective working relationships with UK Government, Scottish Government, NHS Boards, including Public Health Scotland, NHS Health Improvement Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland to deliver a dynamic response covering COVID testing (sampling, laboratory and self-test) and contact centre services. The National Contact Centre provides contact tracing, isolation support, international quarantine monitoring and advice. The COVID-19 Response Directorate also hosts the national vaccination helpline, a critical part of the vaccination programme ensuring that all people living in Scotland can be vaccinated against COVID-19.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Managers to join our team. This is a crucial time in the delivery of our Covid-19 response services to National Services Scotland (NSS), NHSScotland (NHSS), the Scottish Government and other partner organisations in order to suppress the COVID-19 virus to a level consistent with alleviating its harms while we recover and rebuild for a better future.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Covid-19 Response, you will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of the National Contact Centre service. This is without doubt a high profile, demanding and fast paced areas of work making a significant contribution to the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a strong operational and people leader, you will quickly build knowledge and credibility with a range of stakeholders including UK Government, Scottish Government and NHS Health Boards, making decisions to ensure the successful delivery of the National Contact Centre services including contact tracing and vaccination helpline services within NSS. The roles offer an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the citizens of Scotland through your leadership, decision making, communication and planning skills.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, and preferably with a post graduate qualification in Information or Business, you will have significant experience in a senior operational role within a public sector or a large complex organisation. As such you can demonstrate exceptional communication skills and highly developed planning, organisational and decision making skills. You’ll be resilient and thrive in a demanding and time bound environment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Standard Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
