Location: This post will be based in Edinburgh and you will also be expected to travel to other sites within Scotland as required.

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient/donor care whilst remaining internationally competitive. The Donor & Transport Services Department is responsible for the planning and provision of adequate supplies of safe, high quality blood and blood components for NHS Scotland in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multidisciplinary Service and Quality Improvement Specialist Function (SQI) within the Donor and Transport Services Department of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. The principal function of SQI Team is to support and implement service and quality improvements rapidly and effectively across Donor and Transport Services, maintaining regulatory compliance, consistent standards, identify training requirements and delivering training programs.
We are seeking applications from a First Level Registered Nurse with experience at a senior level. You will have a Master’s Degree or be able to demonstrate working at Masters level. You must have proven clinical and leadership skills with evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to:
• Foster a culture of openness and enquiry, supporting the delivery, development and implementation of evidence based quality improvement initiatives to ensure a professional service to donors and patients
• Lead responsibility in the delivery and development of improved performance Lead responsibility in monitoring the achievement of training programs and associated competency assessments within own area
• Working collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Educator, create, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs for Donor and Transport Services
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements providing expert advice
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in quality improvement and change management. The post requires individuals to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational, forward planning and problem solving abilities are also essential. You will be self-motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
