NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the UK’s largest providers of acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services. With a workforce of around 38,000 staff we deliver healthcare to a population of 1.15 million people plus providing specialist regional and national services to more than half of Scotland’s population. The geographical area covered is diverse; encompassing 6 local authority areas within the West of Scotland. With an annual revenue budget of c £3.2 billion and a capital budget of £50m this represents c24% of the overall Health spend in Scotland.
It is a very exciting time to be joining the largest NHS Board in Scotland as we implement our transformational healthcare strategy, ‘Moving Forward Together’, which is underway to ensure delivery of better health and healthcare outcomes for the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our Estates and Facilities leadership team and lead at time of unprecedented challenge as we recover and renew in response to the Covid -19 pandemic.
This post is offered as a full time permanent pensionable appointment.
We are seeking now seeking to appoint a new Deputy Director-Estates & Property to this challenging and exciting opportunity which has become available to lead one of the largest healthcare Estates and Property services team in the United Kingdom.
As Deputy Director - Estates & Property, you will contribute fully to the strategic and corporate management of the Estates and Property service including the delivery of the NHS Board’s Estates and Infrastructure Strategies.
You will have overall responsibility for ensuring that optimal estate and property services are provided within available human and financial resources:- along with being the principal adviser on all land, property, estate and development matters to the Board’s Director - Estates & Facilities SMG, CMT and the Board.
Operating with delegated authority from the Director, this post is accountable for all estates and property construction and maintenance for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, in both Acute and Community settings.
You must be educated to Masters' level or equivalent, have a relevant Professional qualification and will bring to the role significant experience at Senior level within Estates and Property within a large scale, complex, multi-site environment, preferably across complex health care services.
You will have demonstrable leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and a record of achievement and ability to meet strategic organisational objectives at Senior Management level.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate their commitment to quality improvement with the stature to interface at Board level across the organisation and beyond in the influencing and development of regional and national strategy.
This unique and highly visible role requires the strategic vision, tactical skills and resilience to operate against a background of multiple competing demands in a complex environment. It would be advantageous if your leadership skills and experience have been gained in a public or private sector, customer facing organisation, leading a large scale technically complex portfolio of estates, property and facilities services.
As importantly, you will be able to demonstrate achievements in motivating and developing teams, creating and maintaining a culture of high performance and operating to best in class standards through effective people management.
