The Unscheduled Care Mental Health Assessment Unit aims to provide an accessible service to Emergency Departments, Police, SAS, NHS24 and GPs for those presenting with Mental Health difficulties and who require urgent assessment throughout NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The post holder would be a key member of the MHAU team with responsibility for    referral screening / patient allocation and reviews as well as monitoring nursing workload (clinical activity) / workforce issues and ensuring resource efficiency are critical aspects of the role.

The post holder will provide leadership for staff who are providing assessment and treatment to patients with complex mental health, physical and social care needs who present in crisis and may require additional home treatment/care intervention over a 24hr period. 

The post-holder will be responsible for the safe and effective deployment and management of the nursing resource to ensure robust risk assessment/ risk management, implementation and signposting to appropriate services to provide complex programmes of care using a strength based recovery focused approach that proactively involves the person and optimises self-management across the services.

The post holder will support the Service Manager, contributing to health and social care agenda, leading on professional, practice and service improvements to ensure safe effective person centred care delivery and the Unscheduled Care key functions are important aspects of this role.

The shift pattern for this post is Mon-Sun 24hr rotational post
