This is an exciting time to join us to support the roll out of Adult Disability Payment.  This role will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to help shape the development of this new service and ensure we make the right decisions for our clients.

As a Senior Practitioner the post-holder will provide leadership, management and expert advice and decision making support to Practitioners, Case Managers and Client Experience Officers working on Adult Disability Payment (ADP) which replaces Personal Independence Payment (PIP) both in initial applications and re-determinations.

Who we are looking for

  • We would welcome applications from individuals registered with the NMC/HCPC/SSSC (as reqd) with a background in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work or Social Care.
  • Candidates with demonstrable experience, knowledge and expertise of working with clients in one of the following areas of practice;
    • Mental Health
    • Adult Health/ Disability
    • Learning Disability 
    • Autism/ neurodiversity
  • Candidates who have personal commitment to our core ethos of treating all people with dignity and respect, the provision of social security as a human right and our duty to maximise benefit take-up
  • Ability to role model, influence and share advanced/ specialist knowledge

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the Service Manager by leading a team of Practitioners in the delivery of an excellent high quality service. Playing a pivotal role in contributing to influencing and facilitating change where appropriate within the organisation.  This may include suggested improvements to working practices and processes, learning from experience and making recommendations for re-design. 
  • Engaging with customers, medical, social work and social care professionals to understand the impact of the client’s circumstances, condition, disability on their everyday living and the support in place to help them.
  • Act as a role model to create a culture of support and provide effective leadership within professional and organisational boundaries. Empower their team to deliver a high quality service.
  • Ensure effective use of resources and workforce planning, contribute to aspects of monitoring of workload, ensuring adequate availability of Practitioners and knowledge of their skill set and competency when delegating work.
  • Develop advanced competence in the delivery of advice through the use of innovative up to date evidence so ensuring optimum support to Practitioners, Case Managers and Client Experience Officers
