Location: 220 High Street, Glasgow or Dundee with some Remote working  

Hours of work: Around 37 hours per week.  As we appreciate that not all applicants can commit to a 37 hour working pattern we are considerate of all working pattern requests.

Salary: £39,312 - £47,065, Full or Part Time Hours Monday - Friday (No weekends, nights or shift work)

As a Team Leader/Senior Practitioner the post holder will provide clinical leadership, management and expert clinical advice and support to Practitioners, Case Managers and Client Experience Officers working on Child Disability Payment which replaces Child Disability Living Allowance, both initial applications and re-determinations.

This is an exciting time to join us to support the roll out of Child Disability Payment.  This role will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to help shape the development of this new service and ensure we make the right decisions for our clients.

Who we are looking for

  • We would welcome applications from individuals registered with the NMC/HCPC with a background in Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • Experience of implementing change in teams evaluating and encouraging improvement and innovation
  • The ability to work autonomously in the management of their own workload and directing and supporting their team in the management of theirs.
  • The ability to provide expert clinical advice and guidance as part of their role whilst leading and supporting the performance of their team

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the Service Manager by leading a team of Practitioners in the delivery of an excellent high quality service.
  • Provide expertise and advice on child physical health, mental health and learning disabilities to Practitioners and Case Managers ensuring they are able to make robust and fair decisions.
  • Playing a pivotal role in contributing to influencing and facilitating change where appropriate within the organisation.  This may include suggested improvements to work practises and processes, learning from experience and making recommendations for re-design. 
  • Manage your own workload, direct and support your team in the management of theirs. 
  • Act as a role model to create a culture of support and provide effective leadership within professional and organisational boundaries. Empower your team to deliver a high quality service.
  • Ensure effective use of resources and workforce planning, contribute to aspects of monitoring of workload, ensuring adequate availability of Practitioners and knowledge of their competency when delegating work.
  • Develop advanced competence in the delivery of clinical advice through the use of innovative up to date evidence so ensuring optimum support to Practitioners, Case Managers and Client Experience Officers. 
  • On escalation of complex decisions, advice maybe sought from the Service Manager or Professional Advisors to ensure consistency and building the credibility of the team.
  • Provide fair and timely feedback to the team that recognises good performance and identifies areas for improvement.

Essential criteria and how to apply

  2. Extensive and demonstrable experience of leading others and a strong history of improving performance and motivating others to achieve objectives
  3. Experience of working with children, young people and their families in a health or social care setting
  4. Experience of managing staff

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  7. Experience of managing change
