The team

People, Solutions and Experience are a team within the Human Resources and Workforce Development Department, and we aim to provide an excellent service in all aspects of employment, from prior to commencement of employment and throughout the employment lifecycle. This includes providing a wide range of professional services such as recruitment, HR front of house, terms and conditions of service and policy and case management advice and guidance.

The vacancies

We currently have 2 fixed term / secondment opportunities, one within the Recruitment team and one within the HR Assist team.

The Recruitment Officer will provide an end to end recruitment service to NHS National Services Scotland and our shared service partner, Public Health Scotland. This will include assisting managers with vacancies, providing advice and guidance on recruitment, advertising posts, issuing offers and contracts and maintaining our people systems which include Job Train – our Recruitment portal, Service Now and e:EES.

The HR Assist Officer will provide advice and guidance on all aspects of terms and conditions of service and policies, will be the first point of contact for our customers queries and for maintaining our people systems such as e:EES, internal databases and our call management platform, Service Now.

The candidate

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills, written and verbal, combined with great organisational and time-management skills, to join the teams. You need the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, customer service environment and possess good decision-making skills.

A good understanding of HR practices and a professional, confident and flexible approach is essential to balance the needs of the customers with the requirement to adhere to policy and process.

You should be working towards full Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Accreditation or have an equivalent level of experience in a multi-disciplined human resources environment.

Additionally, you should have experience of HR systems and be computer literate with standard Microsoft packages.

The post’s will be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, and on occasion travel to other NSS sites to attend meetings will be required. As per the Scottish Government advice around COVID 19 we are currently working from home.

The successful candidate must comply with the Mandatory Induction Standards and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers
