Consultant in Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery
University Hospital Monklands
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for a Consultant in Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery to join its team of Consultants and wider multi-disciplinary team.
The Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery Department is part of the Surgical & Critical Care Directorate, which provides services within a 7 theatre main operating suite and a stand-alone 2 theatre day unit. Outpatient services are also provided in the 2 other NHS Lanarkshire Hospitals, University Hospital Hairmyres and University Hospital Wishaw.
Head and Neck Cancer services, and Orthognathic surgery are provided within a West of Scotland network. There is a busy orthodontic department providing services for NHS Lanarkshire across 3 hospitals, supported by orthodontic technician services.
The successful applicant will contribute to the provision elective and emergency theatre and outpatient work, and join a regional on call network covering NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Forth Valley. There is wide scope for the development of sub specialist interests.
University Hospital Monklands is a district general hospital allowing a varied practice and is also hosts a number of regional specialist services including ENT, Infectious Diseases, Renal Medicine and Urology.
University Hospital Monklands sits at the heart of the community and is one of 3 hospitals serving Scotland’s third largest health board. It is a centre of excellence for a number of specialties including ENT surgery. All services are currently working to design and realise new models of care for the replacement University Hospital Monklands which will be Scotland’s flagship digital hospital, to be built in 2028.
The hospital is situated in the West of Scotland on the national motorway network 25 minutes from Glasgow, and 35 minutes from Stirling. It has excellent communication links enabling a choice of living in city and rural areas. It is within a one-hour drive from Loch Lomond and Edinburgh.
University Hospital Monklands has a number of formal University affiliations including the University of the West of Scotland, University of Glasgow, and University of Strathclyde.
