An exciting opportunity exists to secure the role of Head of Strategic Planning and Programme Management Office for the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD). The CfSD brings together a range of high impact, national programmes such as the Scottish Access Collaborative, Modernising Patients Pathways and Early Cancer Diagnosis. It is also developing new capabilities in broader areas such as innovation.
The post is a brand new function which will play a key leadership role working across the organisation. It will be responsible for working with teams to ensure high quality standards and governance are applied across the CfSD. It will line manage a number of senior programme posts and will be responsible for overseeing effective resource allocation. It will play a leadership role in reporting and measurement against the CfSD Value and Impact Framework. The post will also take a lead in strategic planning – assessing performance against existing plans and leading the development of new plans.
This is a role which requires strong capability in multi-disciplinary working with good engagement skills and an understanding of service design methodologies. Strong programme management skills are essential as is the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver on target.
This is a high profile area of work that requires a passionate and experienced individual who will confidently lead teams to manage, develop and implement programmes leading to sustainable transformation across a whole health and social care system. The successful candidate should demonstrate expert programme management and leadership capability, coupled with the ability to motivate teams and mentor and develop staff. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to secure clinical and operational engagement, with the credibility required to operate at a senior level, working with executive teams. They will exhibit a demonstrable understanding of the NHS; and in depth understanding of programme/project management and improvement methodologies, with recognised expertise in practical application in a range of health and social care settings. The ability to work within a highly political agenda, manage to deadlines and respond to changing priorities is essential.
