An exciting opportunity exists to secure the role of Head of Innovation for the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD). The CfSD is expanding its capability through the development of a new innovation function. As a brand new function there is an opportunity to work with stakeholders across NHS Scotland to mobilise the new Accelerated National Innovation Adoption Pathway. This focuses on the delivery of innovations aligned with identified NHS priorities, and there will be a portfolio of innovations at different stages of the pathway.
Working with a range of key innovation delivery partners, the CfSD will play a pivotal role across the new pathway, leading and developing the capability to deliver the following:
- Detailed operating framework
- Pathway coordination
- Demand signalling
- Working with Test Beds and other delivery partners to develop and deliver evidence base
- Development of business cases for adoption and scaling of innovations
- Delivery of adoption, scaling and optimisation of innovations
In addition to mobilising the innovation pathway, the role will provide leadership in the delivery of business cases and scaling and adoption of innovations which have generated a strong evidence base and are currently ready for deployment.
This is a role which requires strong capability in multi-disciplinary working with good engagement skills and an understanding of service design methodologies. An understanding of the innovation lifecycle and the roles of procurement, evaluation and regulation across the pathway would be advantageous. An ability to work with stakeholders to tease out and identify measurable value through the deployment of innovation is another key requirement for the role. Strong programme management skills are essential as is the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver on target.
This is a high profile area of work that requires a passionate and experienced individual who will confidently lead, manage, develop and implement programmes leading to sustainable transformation across a whole health and social care system. The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to secure clinical and operational engagement coupled with the ability to work with academia and industry. They will exhibit a demonstrable understanding of innovation and the NHS; an in depth understanding of programme/project management and improvement methodologies, with recognised expertise in practical application in a range of health and social care settings. The ability to work within a highly political agenda, manage to deadlines and respond to changing priorities is essential.
Currently the role is predominantly home based however there will be a future requirement for travel given the national remit of the post.
