Salary: £82,699 (GBP) to £109,849 (GBP) (pro-rata if applicable)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the UK’s largest provider of acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services. Our Acute Services are delivered currently from three Sectors covering North Glasgow, South Glasgow and Clyde and three Directorates with cross site responsibilities covering Women and Children's Services, Regional Services and Diagnostics and Imaging. Inpatient and outpatient Acute and Medicine for the Elderly services are delivered across 9 sites which include Acute teaching hospitals of which the state-of-the-art Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children are co-located on one of the largest hospital campuses in the UK and one of the most advanced in Europe.
Our recently approved ‘Moving Forward Together’ Blueprint will develop and deliver health and care services to meet the current and future needs of our population and will enable a clear plan for change to be taken forward making the Scottish Government’s vision for health and social care a reality. It is an exciting time for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as we embark on this transformational change programme with a focus on integration, prevention and self management and the development of clinical networks across hospitals and into the community.
We are now seeking to appoint, on a permanent basis, to 3 Consultant Gastroenterology posts based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) Paisley and Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH) Greenock. Both hospitals provide a full range of District General Hospital Specialties with excellent support facilities including a first class modern radiology department and services. We also have a major commitment to education and close links with Glasgow University and there is an active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme.
We are seeking highly motivated, innovative, experienced and enthusiastic Gastroenterologists to join a well established and friendly Gastroenterology team providing emergency and elective Gastroenterology services across the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde area which comprises both urban and rural populations. These posts provide an exciting opportunity to provide consultant leadership in Gastroenterology. Joining a progressive Gastroenterology Department, the successfully appointed candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of a successful modern consultant led service for a population of around 400,000 as well as supporting and contributing to, the development of gastroenterology services across the Board area .
Within this role you will be one of a team of 9 Consultants supported by a dedicated team of specialist nursing staff who are committed to improving the patient pathway to promote and deliver high standards of patient care, outcomes, experience, safety and quality. Your application and interview will demonstrate the skill set needed to join us in delivering, developing and teaching expert care within this exciting and challenging specialty.
The recruitment process will include supporting sub specialty interests.
The Gastroenterology team also participate in Acute Medicine and the post includes a commitment and general medical out-of-hours on call duties.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience in all aspects of general gastroenterology and competence diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
To work as a consultant within the United Kingdom, you must have General Medical Council (GMC) registration with a Licence to Practice and be listed on the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Gastroenterology or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration through Certificate of Eligibility of Specialist Registration (CESR).
