Job Advert
This post offers the opportunity for a committed and ambitious clinician to join the NHS Lanarkshire stroke service but will be based at University Hospital Wishaw. The candidate can either come solely with an interest in stroke, stroke plus geriatric medicine or stroke plus acute medicine.
Acute stroke services are provided on all 3 acute Lanarkshire hospital sites. These include stroke thrombolysis, Fast Track TIA clinics, acute assessment and rehabilitation for stroke in a dedicated ward. There are 24 integrated stroke beds within University Hospital Wishaw, including input from a stroke specific multidisciplinary team. The regional vascular and Lanarkshire interventional radiology services are based on the Hairmyres’ site. A pan-Lanarkshire Stroke Tone Management Clinic runs weekly and involves two stroke consultants and two specialist stroke physiotherapists.
NHS Lanarkshire had the shortest thrombolysis door to needle times in Scotland in the 2019 Scottish Stroke Improvement Programme Annual Report and performs well against other Stroke Standards. Our pathways are currently being redesigned as part of National Thrombectomy Service Planning.
The Stroke Service has recently been awarded University Department Status and is currently recruiting to several multicenter and local research trials. There are two dedicated stroke clinical research practitioners.
Applicants wishing to work less than fulltime or job share are also encouraged to apply.
