Vaccinators (Registered Clinicians) (Ref: 64084)
Up to Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

Band 5 - Salary Range £26,104 - £32,915 per annum (pro rata for part-time posts)
Distant Island Allowance of £1,971 per annum (pro rata for part-time posts).
We are looking for registered healthcare professionals to work in our vaccination clinics as part of our temporary Extended Flu and Covid Vaccination Programme Team.
You will be instrumental in ensuring that we offer an excellent vaccination service to our patients. Ideally you will have some recent experience in providing healthcare services and / or in immunisation practice, but full training can be given. You will be required to work primarily in a mass vaccination clinic setting in Lerwick but also potentially other sites across Shetland. Clinics may run at evening and weekends for which appropriate enhanced hours will be paid.
You will undertake activities including:
- Clinical Assessments, addressing any concerns patients might have
- Administration of vaccines under relevant Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
- Full vaccination duties including obtaining informed consent and vaccine preparation using multi dose vials
- Use of an electronic patient record system (VMT Vaccination Management System hosted on TURAS)
- Post vaccine observation and support
- Training relevant to the role and dependent on your previous experience this may include the Promoting Effective Immunisation Practice course; training specific to covid and flu vaccination; practical training in vaccination administration; Basic Life Support and management of Anaphylaxis training
- Adhering to national Infection Control guidelines
Essential requirements for this role:
- Current Professional Registration eg Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Allied Health Professional, Pharmacist, Dental Nurse
- Any other registered healthcare professional with equivalent proven experience.
- Current clinical knowledge
This contract is for a fixed-term until end March 2022. The reason for the fixed-term contract is to support the extended flu and covid vaccine programme delivery as part of the pandemic response and to support the redesign of vaccination services going forward.
