We have an exciting opportunity in NHS Tayside acute service division for a full time, experienced individual for the role of Cancer Nurse Consultant. NHS Tayside delivers a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies across three sites.
As a nurse consultant, the post holder will work alongside our medical and surgical teams, consultant oncologists and haematologists and divisional directors with responsibility for supporting the multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective care to patients and their families.
The post holder would also be a member of the project team supporting Tayside’s Cancer Care Board in delivering its aims. These aims include co-ordinating cancer care across pathways and sectors, creation of a clear vision and strategy for cancer care across Tayside and to support improvement in the experience of and outcomes for people affected by cancer.
Substantial clinical experience in the field of cancer care is required to undertake a key role in development of cancer nurse specialists, cancer advanced nurse practitioners and nursing staff aiming to enhance and further develop innovative services to meet the needs of the local population. You will be expected to play an active role in enhancing patient experience, assuring clinical governance, peer review and audit. You will be expected to support the senior leadership team and contribute in the improvement and continued development of the service.
The post holder will be educated to masters level or willing to work towards this, including independent non medical prescribing, clinical expert in the field of cancer care and will fulfill the 4 domains of the nurse consultant function:
- Advanced and expert level practice within the field of cancer care
- Leadership and consultancy
- Development and provision of education and training
- Service development, evaluation, research and audit
