An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse / Magnet Programme Director (MPD), Part time (18.75 hours per week) post, 2 years Secondment / Fixed term who will work as part of the shared role to make a total 1.0WTE role.

The Lead Nurse functions in the corporate role of clinical leader and programme director to promote and develop systems that assists with fostering clinical excellence throughout the organisation to support the organisation to achieve magnet designation. The Magnet® Programme Director (MPD) serves as a leader and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet® application, designation and re-designation processes and is advisor to the Nursing and Midwifery Directors and Leadership Council. The MPD is the liaison to the ANCC Magnet® Office.

The primary focus of the role is developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and overseeing the overall Magnet® Recognition Programme. The post holder will develop and implement organisational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness and shared governance as essential components of the Magnet® Recognition Program. The MPD acts as a liaison across the organisation to promote nursing excellence and to further the Magnet® philosophy. ​​​​​​​

To provide leadership and operational delivery for NHS Grampian Magnet journey to designation. This unique role will improve the quality and safety of care for people, in all care settings within NHS Grampian (NHSG), by effective leadership, consultation, collaboration, professional communication, project management, program development, and analysis of data systems and processes.

The post holder work collaboratively with a range of professional nursing and midwifery and wider stakeholder expertise, assurance and improvement experts securing appropriate clinical and operational skills and experience to deliver the programme.

Applicants will have a valid NMC registration and hold a Masters degree and evidence of post-graduate certificate eg: project management or quality improvement being desirable.  The post holder will work as part of the senior nursing and midwifery leadership team and wider system leaders, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of key priorities. The successful applicant will hold excellent leadership skills, proven ability to lead others, professional credibility, clinical currency. The post holder should have excellent care values and a strong sense of team spirit, Enthusiasm to work, learn and develop self and colleagues within the exciting and challenging and changing health care environment.
