NSS is the leading provider of data services and advanced analytics within the public sector in Scotland.  Established in 2000, the Data and Analytics service is a dedicated team of professionals that designs, develops and supports integrated data and analytical platforms for NHSScotland which underpins Scotland’s reputation as a world leader in health informatics.  Following a change in legislation in 2014, NSS now offers data and analytical services across the public sector.

We are looking for 3 experienced and enthusiastic data and advanced analytics professionals to join our team as a Project Technical Lead to take a lead role in the delivery of our data and analytical products.  This is a critical role in supporting the strategic direction for better use of data to support service delivery and outcomes across Scotland.

Responsibilities will include being the technical authority for projects – making design and engineering decisions where necessary, supporting and guiding the technical team, carrying out peer reviews, liaising with technical office if necessary to ensure adherence to standards, and ensuring a smooth transition of products into BAU.  They will work closely with the Delivery Managers, Product Owners and Stakeholders of projects.

Current leading edge technologies include Oracle Exadata and Denodo data virtualisation, Azure Machine Learning, PowerBI, Tableau visual analytics and Business Objects reporting.  There is an active programme of work to migrate fully to cloud architecture, which will include the introduction of new tools and capabilities to support changing data and analytical needs, and to support the delivery of new data and analytical products.

Services provided by the Data and Analytics team include consultancy, development and support of innovative data and analytical solutions, and platforms as a service (PaaS). All services are underpinned by our 4 strategic Centres of Excellence – Data; Reporting & Visual Analytics; Advanced Analytics; and AI.

A degree, or equivalent, is required plus significant experience in the delivery of enterprise-wide data and analytical solutions. Successful candidates will be strong communicators, with an enthusiastic, proactive attitude.

Our benefits package includes a generous pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
