POST: CONSULTANT DERMATOLOGY POST. .
BASE: GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY AND STOBHILL AMBULATORY CARE HOSPITAL
This post offers 10 PAs and will cover North Glasgow with clinical work at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Stobhill Ambulatory Care Hospital (SACH). The post would also have the requirement to work elsewhere as required by the Clinical Service Lead.
Adult dermatology services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde are provided by the clinical directorate of dermatology, the Alan Lyell Centre for Dermatology. The Directorate works on a hub and spoke model, with inpatient beds and some specialised and tertiary services based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is the regional adult dermatology centre for approximately 1.5 million people in the West of Scotland.
Local adult dermatology services are delivered at eight hospital sites – Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Stobhill Hospital, Vale of Leven Hospital, New Victoria Hospital and West Glasgow ACH. Each of these sites provides a range of dermatology out-patient services.
Dermatology services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of practitioners including Consultants, Specialty doctors, GP clinical assistants and specialist dermatology nurses, working within an inpatient ward and outpatient department. The QEUH forms the hub for subspecialty clinics and is the tertiary adult inpatient unit.
The successful candidate will join the team of GGC dermatologists, whose special interests across GGC include cutaneous surgery (including Mohs surgery), skin cancer, photodermatology, contact dermatitis, severe psoriasis, teaching, genodermatoses, paediatric dermatology, connective tissue disorders, vulval dermatoses, lymphoma and hair disorders.
The dermatology team in North East Glasgow are keen to attract someone with an interest in skin cancer and skin surgery. We see large numbers of 2 week wait and skin cancer referrals across both our outpatient sites and work closely with colleagues at the Canniesburn plastic surgery unit based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, our Moh’s surgery colleagues and the maxillofacial surgical team. There are opportunities for clinicians interested in research which we would be happy to support. Whilst not mandatory we would particularly welcome candidates who would be interested in developing our skin cancer services further and in time take on a lead role within our skin cancer MDT.
