We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Medical Specialities Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This is the main acute / emergency admitting hospital for Edinburgh and the Lothians, and as such gives all staff experience of contributing to the care and treatment of a broad range of patient presentations as a key member of their dynamic multidisciplinary team. The post is based in our Acute Medical Assessment Unit (3 days) and in other parts of our medical specialities teams (2 days)

Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of acute areas, from: Respiratory, ITU / HDU, Orthopaedics, Stroke, and with a particular interest in Acute Medical / Medicine for the Elderly specialities. Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritise and discharge plan is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is ideal.

You will have supervisory responsibility for band 5 and non-registered staff members. Our teams currently include band 2 to 7 staff. Staff will have opportunities to take on additional broader departmental professional roles when these arise. There is a regular weekend and overnight on-call commitment, with this area of working being fully supported through a robust orientation programme.

The range of conditions and specialities encountered, requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 6 physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
