As an OPAT Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be a Registered General Adult nurse who is experienced in administering IV antibiotics and has acquired additional training & knowledge pertinent to this specific service. Previous relevant experience working autonomously as a Nurse specialist is advantageous.

You will be required to liaise and establish links with various Community GP Practices and various setting/ hospitals in GG&C as required whilst contributing towards shaping future service improvements in line with your Team lead and specialist colleagues.

You will work autonomously within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team; consult in nurse led clinics whilst ensuring a high standard of care is maintained. It is essential you have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care, including IV administration, venipuncture & canulation certified to support patient’s treatment / compliance, particularly with complex treatment regimes.

You will facilitate as a change agent to improve on quality aspects. You will have the ability to focus on research & audit to deliver specialist care to both in-patients and out-patients within South / South West sector and within various setting/ hospitals across GG&C as the service requires whilst contributing towards shaping future OPAT improvements and development.

You must possess confident communication skills to engage with patients, various teams, hospital clinicians and General Practitioners and maintain excellent clinical links between these services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times.

All mandatory Learnpro modules must be up to date and include statutory modules relevant to this specialty.

You will be expected to contribute professionally and posses a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trakcare and portal. You will be based within the South West Sector on a full time permanent basis and shift pattern of mainly Monday - Friday as the service requirements dictates.

It is essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse.
