Job Advert

NHS Grampian has a number of immediate opportunities to work as part of a remote team of contact tracers, responsible for providing the first point of contact with people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and their contacts.  You will undertake phone interviews and accurately capture all relevant data on the Case Management System (CMS).  These roles are vital in breaking the chain of transmission of COVID-19 between individuals by contacting people at risk of transmission.

The main attributes of the role are flexibility, tact, persistence, developed verbal communication skills (ie. recent experience in dealing with people who are distressed, angry or reluctant to engage in conversation), ability to write detailed notes and take responsibility for their decisions alongside understanding when decisions need to be escalated to a Team Leader as appropriate.  A clinical background is useful but not essential.

We strongly encourage potential applicants to consider their suitability against the following essential criteria before submitting an application:

  • You must be educated to degree level or have the equivalent experience which is relevant to the main attributes of the role detailed above.
  • You must be able to work flexibly over a 37.5 hour week, 5 days from 7, including 10:00 – 18:00 and 12:00 – 20:00 shifts on weekdays and weekends.
  • You must be able to work from home with no or minimal disruption to your work.
  • You must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and electronic information systems to support the public health management of cases.

You must live (or have accommodation arranged) within a commutable distance of any major NHS Grampian Hospital site to allow IT support to be provided when required and to permit deployment to another role should this be required.

These posts are fixed term until 31 March 2022.

As this is a fixed term post, if you are an existing NHS Grampian permanent employee and are interested in the role, please speak with your manager prior to submitting your application form with a view to having a secondment agreed in principle and an ability to start immediately if you were successful following interview. Please include within your application form that you have undertaken this or your application will not be progressed.

Time is extremely precious at the moment within the NHS, please allow us to use our time as best as we can by only applying if you meet as a minimum all of the essential elements of the person specification. You must evidence your skillset within your application. If you have previously submitted an application for this role please do not resubmit.

The advert will close at Midnight on Sunday 22nd August  2021 and interviews will take place shortly after using Microsoft Teams. Please note that in the event that sufficient applications are received before the closing date, this post may close early.

It is anticipated that successful candidates would commence employment on shortly after.
