An undergraduate position is available for a keen, enthusiastic candidate with an interest in medical technology. The successful candidate will continue their training and be eligible to enter the 3rd year, of a fully funded, BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology, specialising in Cardiological sciences, leading to Registration and qualification as a Cardiac Physiologist. Upon the completion of training the candidate will be qualified to apply for a permanent post as a qualified cardiac physiologist.
Academic requirements: Minimum BBC or BCCC at Higher grade. Minimum CCC at A-level.
Recommended subjects: Two of Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics at a minimum of Higher Grade
Essential subjects: Applicants must have Mathematics or Physics at a minimum of Standard Grade I or II.
The degree course will take place at Glasgow Caledonian University, and as such you will be required to travel to Glasgow for study periods over the academic year on a 2 day per week basis. The first semester will commence this September. The job will involve all aspects of technical and diagnostic cardiology and you will be trained in the areas of non-invasive diagnostics, invasive procedures and implantable device technology.
The training schedule will be rigorous and will involve working across the Clyde hospital sites and the Golden Jubilee National Hospital and the successful candidate must be able to time manage in order to complete the degree whilst working full-time as a junior physiologist.
