An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual with an interest in Parkinson’s disease. The successful candidate will work in collaboration to develop, co-ordinate and provide highly specialist Parkinson’s disease care. The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Parkinson’s disease specialist team.

The main role of the post holder will be giving support, advice and education to improve the experience of patients with Parkinson’s disease and their carers and to positively affect their treatment/care outcomes. The post holder will lead and co-ordinate care for these patients in the four stages of Parkinson’s Disease (diagnosis, maintenance, complex, palliative)  within NHS Lanarkshire.

The post holder will influence patient care through expert clinical practice, leadership, consultation, education, research management and health promotion. The post holder will also act as a highly specialist resource and educator on Parkinson’s disease for all disciplines across NHSL.  Please note this is a part time permanent post based in the East Kilbride locality working Monday to Friday and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.  Your will be a car driver with a valid UK driving licence.

The post holder will be a specialist clinical practitioner providing care, expert advice and support, operating within a defined specialism across NHS Lanarkshire, will ensure a person centered approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy, contribute to the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity.

The post holder will be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration, be educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level, have post graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently, a comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.

You will have secialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality/area of practice., leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery and further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification

The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative, excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills, effective time management skills and a working knowledge of basic information technology.
