Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the QEUH, the GRI and the Children’s Clinical Research Facility at QEUH. Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. We are recruiting an innovative and enthusiastic Information Systems Manager to assist us in providing high quality service for patients and volunteers participating in Clinical Research. The post-holder will be working within the Clinical Research Facility’s Education & Quality Team. The applicant should be an experienced manager with strong working knowledge of Information Systems. Experience with NHS/Research/Patient data Information systems essential. This is a fixed term post.
The post-holder will work within the GCRF across the Research & Innovation (R&I) community in NHS GGC including clinical research teams/Investigators, Biorepository, R&I Systems, Pharmacy, Finance, Research Imaging and Governance. Data management (quality), report management and user management for Information Systems (e.g. EDGE, QPulse) will be a core part of the role.
The post holder will be responsible for developing database Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and will be required to train system users. This will require an understanding of research data and working practices so that these can be translated into technical solutions to improve the flow of information to support the requirements of GCRF. Regular audit of EDGE data is required to ensure that the information reported to GCRF Senior Management, clinical research teams including investigators, R&I Director, Glasgow Health Science Partnership and the Chief Scientist Office.
This post requires very strong communication skills and an ability to communicate well with all levels and external contractors. The post holder must maintain and develop specialist skills and expertise in EDGE for the benefit of system users.
The post–holder will develop a close working relationship with the development team from the Clinical Informatics Research Unit University of Southampton to ensure the functionality that EDGE provides is fit for purpose.
Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, strong IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The hours of work are predominantly 8.30am-4.30pm but you will be required to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the service, with a requirement to work unsocial hours and weekends as necessary. The ability to regularly travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential.
Minimal requirements:
Qualified to degree level and/or evidence of relevant certification or training.
Minimum of 5 years experience in data management and/or project management role.
Knowledge of regulatory legislation governing clinical trial management, including current working knowledge of Data Protection, Good Clinical Practice, regulatory legislation and frameworks.
Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support and train multidisciplinary team on research databases and updates.
Evidence of highly developed computer technical skills and knowledge of design and development methodologies of IT systems.
Ability to prioritise own workload to achieve agreed timelines and quality standards, responding effectively to competing demands as required.
Experience of producing reports, SOPS, templates and presentations.
Evidence of ongoing personal development.
The shift pattern for this post is 08.30 – 16:30 Weekday (flexible)
