Job Advert
This is a Fixed term post for 12 months. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.
The Glasgow Centre for Population Health is currently recruiting a Public Health Practitioner Specialist to join their team. The post holder will work to deliver and evaluate a ‘Lived Experience Panel’ as a major component of the multi-partner, multi-site project ‘Common Health Assets’. This project is exploring how community-led organisations use ‘assets-based approaches’ to improve health and wellbeing and how that might be different in different contexts. The Lived Experience Panel fulfils a commitment by the project partners to community participation, engagement, and empowerment, and will bring ongoing community expertise and perspective to the research, its emerging themes, and the interpretation of findings.
The post holder will work closely with the project team and community-led organisations from across the UK and should have a track record of public health and/or community-based research involving qualitative and quantitative methods.
Applicants should have knowledge of the public health field, acquired through a relevant degree. Experience of developing and evaluating community interventions, understanding the principles of asset-based approaches, diversity, community engagement and empowerment are also essential. They will have excellent project management skills and will be a confident and clear communicator (both verbal and written), with the ability to work credibly across the community sector and to communicate with staff at a range of levels and from different disciplines to achieve results.
This is a fixed-term part time post (12 months at 0.5 FTE / 2.5 days per week) due to the nature of funding for the project by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). We welcome applications from candidates willing to collaboratively explore and apply for external funding for additional work whilst in post.
A ‘find out more’ session for potential applicants will be held on the 9th of September 2021 via MSTeams where potential candidates can meet the interview panel. If you would like to register for this event, please contact rebecca.lenagh-snow@glasgow.ac.uk
