The West of Scotland Cancer Research Network is recruiting an innovative, ambitious and motivated Band 5 Research Nurse to support a portfolio of cancer clinical trials at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH). The clinical trials service at these sites is expanding and the successful candidate would work alongside the Senior Research Nurse in providing a streamlined service to investigators (clinicians) and patients.
Working collaboratively with Principal Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary team, you will support and coordinate the screening, recruitment, on-going management, monitoring and follow-up of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will work to research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues, and have an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and it is essential you have relevant post registration experience. Previous research experience would be desirable but not essential. You should possess good communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working in a research/clinical trials environment. Attention to detail and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic IT skills would be beneficial.
The hours of work are 22.5 per week worked over 3 days, Monday to Friday. This post is for 1 year in the first instance with possibility of extension subject to continued funding.
