To be the specialist dietitian for the South area Mental Health Services within Glasgow City HSCP and based within Leverndale Hospital. The service provision covers adult acute admissions, Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit, Older people’s Mental Health Service and continuing care wards as well as adult rehabilitation. A small provision is currently made to a community based dietetic clinic. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Inpatient Services Manager and professionally, by the Dietetic Lead Addictions and Mental Health.

• In the planning, organising and provision of an evidence based Dietetic Service to patients and carers, medical, nursing and AHP staff in the above area of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

• In the supervision, teaching and mentoring of student dietitians and provide support to less experienced dietetic staff, dietetic and / or team assistants and clerical staff.

• In the planning and delivery of education and training for health care professionals, including medical and nursing staff and staff from other agencies. This training covers clinically complex and detailed, broad ranging topical nutritional issues for adults and older people.

• In the planning, organising and delivery of the Health Improvement agenda both locally and city wide.

• Contribute to the further development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service across Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
