Hours: 37.5 hours per week worked 5 days
Monday – Friday 08.30am – 16.30pm

Role of the department:
The Health & Community Care Service has responsibility for the management and delivery of integrated primary care services and partnership working with the local authority and other agencies within Inverclyde. In additional, the service has a key role in supporting the development of a population wide approach to healthcare improvement and disease prevention.
This role has responsibility for Adult Community Nursing within Inverclyde which includes District Nursing both in and out of hours, Treatment Rooms, Care Home Liaison and In Reach Acute support. This is an exciting opportunity to further develop community nursing while working collaboratively with other services. Within Inverclyde there is a well established link between Care at Home, Social Work and Community Nursing which supports the unscheduled care agenda. A key aim of the service is to facilitate a shared approach to care delivery focussed on improving outcomes for patients, service users and families.
The job the applicant will be doing:
- Lead and manage the nursing service including management of devolved nursing budget.
- Ensure all staff are supported in the Knowledge & Skills Framework including Personal Development Planning and Performance Review.
- Management recruitment, career development and work performance.
- Implement and monitor Health & Safety legislation with area of responsibility.
- Manage nursing staff including recruitment, career development, performance and work evaluation.
- Complaints investigation and resolution
- Advise on disciplinary issues affecting nursing staff in accordance with the Board’s disciplinary procedures.
Professional Practice, Education and Training
- Facilitate training needs, analysis of nursing staff within the directorate.
- Facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive and continuing education and training strategy for nursing staff within the area of responsibility.
- Devise and implement appropriate on-the-job training activities to maintain standards of clinical practice development.
- Take lead role in the development of protocols and policies necessary to assist practioners in the delivery of staff practice.
Skills / Qualifications:
RGN
Post registration qualification in community nursing.
- Evidence of continuing professional development including Leadership / Collaborative working
- Significant Clinical & Leadership experience
- Management experience in a clinical environment of 5 years
