Pathology Office Manager

Band 5 Position

Full-time – 37.5hrs (Monday - Friday 08:30–17:00)

Applications are invited from suitably experienced and motivated individuals with a wide knowledge of medical terminology, including anatomy, to manage a large team of experienced band 4 Medical Secretaries, administrative staff within NHS Lothian’s Call/Recall Office based at the Nine Bioquarter, and a Personal Assistant.  The Pathology Office Manager post will work alongside a part-time band 5 Pathology Office Manager based at the WGH. The Pathology Department provides patient diagnosis, including cancer diagnosis, for the majority of scheduled care specialties e.g. Breast, Gynaecological etc.  The department has a large team of consultant pathologists and medical trainees who generate reports for 65,000 patient cases a year.

Pathology Department is based over two sites but this post will be nominally based at the RIE site. 

Applicants will need to provide evidence of good communication and organisational skills, previous experience of working as a medical secretary, and can demonstrate managerial experience, awareness of HR policy and upto date MS office skills. In addition, fast, accurate typing, audio/digital dictation experience is required as well as minute-taking/transcription skills.
