As a Kidney Nurse Specialist based at University Hospital Crosshouse, you will co-ordinate and develop the Renal Supportive Care Programme, which provides quality person-centred supportive, palliative and end of life care for patients with advanced renal disease throughout Ayrshire and Arran.
You will work independently but with direct support and supervision from the Clinical Lead for Renal Supportive Care and the Lead Kidney Nurse Specialist. You will also work in partnership with all members of the renal MDT and will liaise with other health and social care professionals.
You will be involved in the continuing development of local renal supportive care guidance, including End of Life pathways and will support compassionate discharges from the Renal High Dependency Unit. You will be involved in the continuing development of Anticipatory Care Planning throughout the renal service.
Requirements:
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration who has experience of working at a senior level within a renal setting
- Undergraduate degree or working towards degree
- Evidence of further education in advanced nursing practice and/ or palliative care
- Experience in Renal Supportive Care/ Conservative Management/ Palliative Care nursing
- Evidence of continued professional development in line with NMC requirements
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Excellent clinical decision making skills
- Is innovative and demonstrates leadership skills, management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload
- Evidence of participation in service developments
- Excellent presentation, teaching and IT skills
- Current and valid driving licence
